Pursuing the Dream: Annual Conference, 2005 -- On a snowy and frigid February morning, Feb. 25, 2005, We Are All Brooklyn, in cooperation with the Brooklyn Borough President's Office, the King's County District Attorney's Office and the Independent Press Association-New York, hosted a forum on ethnic media and domestic violence at which citizens of Brooklyn were able to talk directly with a media professional from WABC -TV as well as with media experts from around the city. We Are All Brooklyn maintains that it is the social responsibility of ethnic media to meet the issue of domestic violence among immigrant populations by accepting their role as agents of social change. We Are All Brooklyn continues to work with the Independent Press Association to create more profound linkages between domestic violence organizations and government agencies dealing with domestic violence, allowing for better dissemination of information and services available to populations that are often disenfranchised. |
